Kelly McCartyAs Regional Director of America’s SBDC Iowa at Iowa Lakes Community College in Spencer, Kelly McCarty was honored as the 2015 Iowa “State Star” by the national association of Small Business Development Centers – America’s SBDC.

America’s SBDC annually recognizes Small Business Development Center employees for demonstrating exemplary work performance, significantly contributing to the organization’s economic development efforts, and showing a strong commitment to small businesses.

“Kelly has been providing valuable assistance and identifying new opportunities for the small businesses in his northwest Iowa region since he started with our organization,” says Iowa SBDC State Director Lisa Shimkat. “He is well known for his financial expertise, his dedication to his clients, and his willingness to mentor other directors. He very much deserves this national recognition.”

Valerie Newhouse, President of Iowa Lakes Community College, adds, “Kelly always goes the extra mile for our small businesses in our region, and also for assisting with statewide projects and support. We are proud of Kelly and this well-deserved recognition.”

McCarty, who’s been with the organization since January 1999, was nominated by his associates for this honor. He was recognized at a special reception held during the America’s SBDC national fall conference in San Francisco, California in September 2015.
