Tricia Rivas to Speak at First Friday Series @ The Greater Des Moines Partnership
Sep 1 @ 11:30 am – 1:00 pm

Iowa Center for Economic Success’ Women’s Business Center and the Greater Des Moines Partnership will host their next First Friday Series event of 2017 on Sept. 1 at The Greater Des Moines Partnership. The event features Tricia Rivas, founder and owner of Trixie’s Salon and Dream Catchers Foundation.

First Friday is an opportunity for savvy, successful business owners and entreprenuers in Greater Des Moines (DSM) to share their stories. The First Friday series gives a chance for attendees to catch some words of wisdom from women who have experienced entrepreneurship first-hand. Past speakers include Leng Vong Reiff of Akili Design and Marketing Services, Liz Lidgett of Adore Your Walls and Emma Walsmith of Tikly.

Sessions are free and open to the public from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first Friday of each month. Locations rotate among The Iowa Center, the Greater Des Moines Partnership and Gravitate Valley Junction. The September event will be held at the Greater Des Moines Partnership, 700 Locust, Ste 100 in Des Moines.

Rivas, owner of Trixie’s Salon, has always had a passion for giving back to the community. Rivas used her skills as a licensed beauty professional to donate salon services to Hospice of Central Iowa, the women’s shelter in Des Moines, and to Des Moines veterans. Overseeing more than 15 stylists at Trixie’s Salon, Rivas encouraged her employees to donate their talents to organizations in DSM. She decided to turn their giving back as a team into something much more by starting the Dream Catchers Foundation. Dream Catchers is the only nonprofit of its kind in DSM that provides salon services for chronically and terminally ill men, women and children as well as their caregivers.

Lunch & Learn Webinar: Master Franchising – The “C-Suite” of Franchising
Sep 7 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Master Franchising – The “C-Suite” of Franchising
There is a unique opportunity in franchising called Master Franchsing. Master franchising is considered by many as the “C-Suite of Franchising”. As a Master Franchisee, you essentially become a franchisor and will award Unit Franchisees as well as support them as they will own and operate their own business.

Please join us in our upcoming webinar to hear from a Franchisor who is using the Master Franchise concept to develop successful franchise systems. This is a highly respected global franchisor who has expressed a specific interest in recruiting a master franchisee for the Des Moines region. They will share more about how their models work and why this may be the perfect opportunity for a Des Moines entrepreneur to grow a large scalable recurring revenue business.
Specifics on this model:
• Executive level business
• No nights, weekends or travel required
• 1,500-2,500 sq. ft. class B office space
• No major equipment, build out or inventory necessary
• 4 key responsibilities – customer acquisition, unit franchise sales, operations and marketing/sales
