At just 23 years old, Anna Shervheim began pursuing her goal of owning a coffee shop. In March of 2022, she bought a building which has now become Village Coffee, which had its grand opening in August 2022. Located in Lenox, Iowa, Village Coffee is an Artisanal coffee shop which brings the feel of a big city shop, to a small community atmosphere.
The encouragement and support from her close friends allowed her to take the passion of coffee, and spread it to her community. Anna says her best days are when the shop takes on that big city feel when the regulars are present and there is a line of people waiting for their morning cup. Village Coffee contributes heavily to the community, by allowing friends to connect with one another over a fresh cup.
Anna stated, “When people’s daily lives are made better by what we provide, that is what makes the business truly successful”.
Anna has mentioned Jamie David, the Regional Director of the South Central Iowa SBDC, as a huge help to beginning her business. She quoted Jamie’s help as, “Invaluable”, and that she was able to answer every question thrown at her. No matter how big or small.
Anna’s future plans are to expand her customer base, while continuing to establish an atmosphere that values community and those close to you. Village Coffee is open Tuesday-Friday from 7am-4:30pm, and Saturday from 7am-12pm.
