Bailey Bruning fell in love with the world of beauty when she was a little girl. This love, paired with her familyās unwavering support, led her to pursue a career as a licensed esthetician, and on January 1, 2025, Bailey opened the doors to Freckled Esthetics.
When naming her business, Bailey wanted something unique that reflected who she was. As a redhead with many freckles, it only made sense to incorporate āFreckledā into the name. Alongside it, the word āEstheticsā highlights Baileyās expertise and the variety of services she offers to her clients.
At Freckled Esthetics, Bailey offers a wide range of esthetic services. These services include lash extensions, brow laminations, lash lifts, full body waxing, special event and bridal makeup, and spray tans. The businessās wide range of service offerings has helped her build a loyal client base in the short time Freckled Esthetics has been open.
After being open for just over a month, Bailey is astonished by what sheās been able to accomplish. On her very first day, she was fully booked, and her business has continued to grow since. Her clients have been essential to her success, placing their trust in her and her skills.
The first month of business has been a time of exploration for Bailey. Prior to opening Freckled Esthetics, Bailey was always unsure of herself in every corporate job she had ā no matter how high of a position she held. Since opening Freckled Esthetics, Baileyās confidence in herself and her decision to open her own business has flourished.
As a first-time business owner, Bailey has had to navigate the unknown by choosing to step outside of her comfort zone and doing something riskier than she had ever done before. Baileyās true focus through all of the uncertainty has been to empower people to feel their best. To do this, Bailey has prioritized creating a personalized experience for each client.
As a Council Bluffs native, Bailey is extremely proud to own a business in the town she grew up in. The community has been an uplifting source of encouragement and support as Bailey navigates the world of being a business owner.
When looking to the future of Freckled Esthetics, Bailey hopes to broader her service offerings to include chemical peels and permanent makeup. Most importantly, Freckled Esthetics plans to continue fostering an environment where people can feel heard and seen.
Bailey contacted the Iowa Western SBDC in October 2024 to receive assistance with her start-up. Through business counseling provided by Elizabeth Christensen, Iowa Western SBDCās Regional Director, Bailey received assistance with market research, marketing strategies, business planning, financial projections, and more. Elizabethās assistance helped Bailey achieve her goal of opening on January 1, 2025, just three months after beginning work with the Iowa Western SBDC.

Baileyās Advice: Do it! If it is truly something you are passionate about and want to do, donāt let anyone tell you that you canāt do it or it is going to be hard. It will be hard, but lots of things are hard ā choose your hard and believe in yourself.
