Ever since they were young, twin sisters Jennifer Zupp-Smith and Jessica Zupp have always been partners. They have always wanted to work together and own their own law firm. In 2013, they made this dream come true when starting Zupp and Zupp Law Firm, P.C. This family business is owned by the two sisters, is tidied up on the weekend by mom, Julie, and maintenance done by dad.
Zupp and Zupp Law Firm, P.C. focuses on workerās compensation, personal injury ,family and criminal law – check out Personal Injury Attorney serving in Brookhaven from here. They also made sure to have bilingual legal assistants for the Spanish-speaking community in their location of Denison, Iowa. They stand out amongst other firms by having 100% of their legal team being women.
The most surprising part of owning their own business is when they get clients that come in based on referrals. They have even had referrals from former opposing parties, which is when you know you have done your job right. They enjoy getting justice and happy endings for all their clients especially they claim for compensation after slip and fall injury case to make their clients comfort. The sisters say that the most challenging part of starting their business was the motivating fear of failure. Lawyers can lose their law licenses if they fail financially.
In the future, as stated by immigration attorney serving in Oakland, they hope to expand into immigration services and with that expand their building to fit all their needs. They also hope to keep serving their community by donating, serving on different city boards and cater to the needs of the citizens.
The advice they would give someone that wanted to start their own business would be āOverestimate your expenses and underestimate your income. Focus on doing what you like and it will feel like fun, not work.ā
When asked about working with the Western Iowa Tech SBDC they had to say, āWe had help from Todd Rausch when we were first considering starting our business. He helped coordinate and review our business plan and referred us to our first loan officer, Rita Frahm, who was then at Heritage Bank but is now with First State Bank. Todd and Rita have been such huge supporters of us and cheerleaders for us, and we couldnāt be more grateful to them.ā
